[13:25:25] <mtcdood> I don't think you're understanding the issue.
[13:25:49] <mtcdood> If people visit the IP address directly (randomly or through a good guess) they see the hostname in the certificate details.

[13:27:05] <ratrace> firewall it
[13:27:07] <mtcdood> Block everything except Cloudflare IPs?
[13:27:23] <ratrace> also, you can have a dumb name self signed cert as _default_ for the IP, and use proper for publicly accessible hostnames
[13:27:33] <ratrace> the snakeoil thing is just something debian packaging autocreates
[13:27:35] <mtcdood> How do I rename the SSL certificate for the IP?

[17:15:01] <Lope> ratrace, do you remember some months ago I had trouble with a USB3 hub with gigabit ethernet port, it would die during extended file transfers or iperf runs?
[17:15:48] <Lope> Previously I theorized that maybe it had a voltage drop problem, along the lines of stuff heating up as it did work, and eventually the voltage dropped too low etc.
[17:16:06] *** Joins: thoros (~thoros@replaced-ip )
[17:16:08] <Lope> But at the time I even backpowered it with a solid 5.1v and the issue persisted.
[17:17:37] <Lope> So my remaining theory was overheating. So I've tested that now, did a long file transfer at gigabit speed with the PCB removed from the case. It turns out that the USB3 network chip gets quite hot, within a minute it gets to about 60C with the case off. So after like 15 mins with the case on and in close proximity to the chip and zero airflow, it must have been getting too hot.
[17:18:39] <Lope> In my testing previously, I could for example only do a 40GB transfer if it was stone cold from being off all night, and then only do one such transfer, thereafter it was too hot or whatever to do even like 7GiB worth of transfer.

[21:06:06] <deadrom> can I make it timeout?
[21:06:08] <karlpinc> deadrom: Ctrl-D just means exit what you're doing.
[21:06:42] <greycat> when you're in the "emergency" shell, comment out the lines in /etc/fstab before exiting and asking it to move on
[21:06:44] <karlpinc> deadrom: You need to do something at the maintenance prompt to say that it's ok to have a degraded system.
[21:06:47] <deadrom> karlpinc: if the prompt says "press ctrl+D to start deafult target" I expect it to start the default target. It sounds reasonable.
[21:07:13] <greycat> so fix the issue before asking it to start the default target
[21:07:19] <deadrom> I edited fstab and returned to a kernel panic.

[21:07:28] <deadrom> karlpinc: ok.
