Someone reported the bug, it was fixed in Bullseye, and marked resolved. How/when does that change make it back to stable? Is the bug truly "resolved"?
[22:59:09] <charking> (The package is xfce4-weather-plugin.)
[23:01:24] <genr8_> march
[23:01:39] <genr8_> too long to rely on that mechanism. you'll have to take action into your own hands

[23:04:01] <charking> genr8_: I made a backport from the testing source using the "SimpleBackport" guide and it works great. I was just wondering about the process. Are things supposed to go on testing before they go on stable?
[23:04:24] <genr8_> essentially, yes. thats the process.

[23:04:50] <genr8_> so you did the right thing. it will make it back
[23:05:06] <charking> OK, thanks. I wondered if it was a mistake that the bug was mark resolved since it's not fixed on stable, but sounds like not.

[23:06:30] <charking> The package shows weather information but stopped working because the API changed. So stable is basically unusable for everyone as is.

[23:07:10] <charking> (weather service's API)
[23:07:29] <Janni> Hi there. I'm confused... why doesn't yield `seq 10 | /usr/bin/parallel -n1 'echo {}'` any output?
[23:07:31] <genr8_> its probably worth filing a 2nd bug to get that to happen sooner than march, saying exactly what you said, the fix was resolved, but current stable is broken

[23:08:42] <genr8_> :)
[23:08:48] <charking> genr8_: Thank you, I will try. How did you figure out that it'd come to stable in March?

[23:09:21] <genr8_> thats when Bullseye switches and becomes "stable"
[23:09:40] <genr8_> the natural release cycle relies on the next version taking over

[23:11:54] <genr8_> but yeah, they tend to just wait for stuff to cycle over all at once rather than cherrypick fixes. but in the case that its super broken I think they'd make an exception - IF they realize. which they probably don't. so you should file a bug and poke someone
