[03:51:43] <coffeecow> i find that testing branches of various software always results in mild headaches

[03:52:28] <coffeecow> gotcha

[20:21:44] <mr_ab> Hello folks. So, I'm running debian + lightdm on our family PC. I actually have it so my (rather small) children, me, and wife all have separate unix users... which is nice because kids can't screw with each other's data (as they tend to do). However they have a bad habit of either (a) logging me out, instead of suspending my session, which bugs
[20:21:44] <mr_ab> the crap out of me, or inversely ... not logging out and suspending their own sessions (which eh I use this PC to write code on for a living so I'd prefer not to have extra WMs running in the bg if I can help it)
[20:22:11] <mr_ab> Is there any way I can enforce these policies automatically?
[20:22:22] <mr_ab> I really can't find anything that fine grained in config
[20:22:42] <mr_ab> Basically so that "switch user" can only occur if certain conditions are met
[20:23:03] <mr_ab> or, actually, .. sorry, to be specific, -- switching user would log the previous user out and kill their processes

[23:48:33] <dka> On Linux 5.6.0 with Debian Stretch latest, I keep having google-chrome-stable closing my linux session on start. I use xserver-xorg, I don't see any logs, any help please? Also after upgrading the kernel from 5.3.0 to 5.6.0 to solve that problem, my /var/log/syslog is having: sh[15361]: Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.6.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 (x86_64) , any idea how to fix that?
[23:48:58] <dka> mert running: ` google-chrome-stable --disable-gpu --disable-extensions --disable-d3d11 --disable-local-storage --disable-notifications --disable-offne-pages --disable-plugin-power-saver --disable-plugins-discovery --disable-sync --disable-translate --disable-webgl --no-experiments --no-sandbox` work
[23:49:24] <dka> but no sound on youtube
[23:49:54] <dka> oh I do have sound
[23:49:58] <annadane> just a general note, we're close to stretch entering LTS; unless you have a specific reason to stay on it i'd consider migrating to buster
