[00:45:13] <vlt> Hello. What is the corrext syntax on Debian 10 to allow a single IP address in nbd-server's authfile? The man page says "one line per IP-address" and "nbd-server will only allow clients to connect whose IP-adres [sic!] is listed in this file". I put a single "192.168.1.6" there but get "Client '192.168.1.6' is not authorized to access" :-| Any idea?

[01:07:30] <dob1> on debian it's, or very inaccurate or it doesn't work. I can assume this is a browser related issue but I was thinking if something is missing in my installation
[01:08:00] <tomreyn> a remotely hosted web application will only be able to guess it based on your WAN ip address, or by guessing your approximate location within the network topology by checking latencies to multiple locations via javascript
[01:08:55] <dob1> tomreyn, it is using Geolocation API, and that's ok but why on windows is so accurate?
[01:09:01] *** debhelper sets mode: +l 1265
[01:09:04] <lwp> vlt, the only guess I can offer, is that maybe they want you to write 192.168.1.6/32
[01:09:27] <vlt> lwp: I will try that.
[01:09:53] <tomreyn> dob1: i would guess thatr on windows the OS is happy to share the wireless AP scan results with the web browser, and that is happy to share it with the web site you're visiting.
[01:10:04] <tomreyn> but then this is #debian ;)
[01:11:04] <tomreyn> you can probably install some software (or write it) on debian that does the same thing if you see a need for it
[01:11:13] <TheMaster> Firefox can request you share your location as well.
[01:11:40] <dob1> I agree to share my position where firefox ask about it

[04:10:54] <somiaj> anne232: for a desktop, this is usually done by writing an .desktop file and putting it in an autostart folder.
[04:11:05] <somiaj> and this loads after you login to your system (not after boot).
[04:11:18] <anne232> yeah thats what i mean
[04:11:28] <anne232> this should work on raspbian too?
[04:11:32] <somiaj> depending on the desktop you use, there might be a configuration tool for this.

[04:13:42] <WoC`> anne232, it depends on which desktop environment you use,

I have since undid all the usb boot key stuff but I'm still unable to boot and I'm out of ideas. I very much dont want to have to reinstall
[04:14:36] <somiaj> Part of what you get with a distro is its support community, the volunteers here choose to support debian pure blends.

[07:23:03] <seanicus> its not a feature by default, though?
[07:23:51] <rudi_s> seanicus: It's basically a better way to handle partitions. You have a "pool of disk space" and can resize existing partitions at will (no need to leave space after a partition).
[07:24:30] <rudi_s> I think the current installer defaults to it, but it uses all disk space at installation which makes LVM less useful because then you cannot e.g. resize / when it gets full.

[23:44:43] <sponix2ipfw> trek00: well, nothing takes all of it. Most just do one or two cores. I also had this issue of one core at MAX with xfwm4 when using the default composition method. I now have it set to "none" as compton gave some issues also
[23:45:24] <sponix2ipfw> trek00: if anyone else needs help though, they should be a higher priority. As I am not even on true Debian
[23:45:34] <warsoul> guys just to let you know my pc freezes just when firefox or chrome is open (sometimes not all the time)
[23:45:43] <trek00> sponix2ipfw: i mean when you see 1 cpu at max and watching with top, do you see firefox and/or jellyfin using all that cpu?
[23:46:34] <sponix2ipfw> trek00: yes, using top/htop/gnome-system-monitor 1 (or 2) cores will be at 100% for those processes

[23:46:50] <sponix2ipfw> trek00: not my "whole CPU" though, that would be all 10 cores lol
[23:47:09] <trek00> warsoul: firefox and chrome are cpu/gpu/io intensive programs, may be the just trigger your hardware issue (like booting)

[23:49:33] <trek00> warsoul: well i will try to run memtest before unplugging things (and before to plug again you need to clean all the dust on the card and the socket)
[23:49:52] <sponix2ipfw> trek00: in top "H" didn't seem to do much for me, do I need to already have the jellyfin process highlighted or something ?
[23:50:11] <warsoul> trek00 thats the thing i dont have dust or nothing

[23:51:51] <sponix2ipfw> Gotta run, will be back in a bit
[23:52:00] <trek00> warsoul: yes but when you unplug things, there is the chance some dust go inside the socket
