I'd always go the -backports and -backports-sloppy way first. There's a single out of distro pkg I have installed a few times, but that as a bundle in /opt, and with a wrapper to prepend a custom path to custom libs

[04:43:00] <jcb2016> i know its late but im trying to do something. i asked a couple of days ago and everyone had good suggestions but nothing worked. im trying to make a live usb bootable debian with presistant data. meaning i want to boot debian and be able to save stuff and exit and boot back up and my data saved. i wanna be able to do this so i can boot from any computer. is this possible?
[04:44:35] <fling> jcb2016: just install to a flashdrive then.
[04:44:40] <CarlFK> jcb2016: pretty sure I did this a long time ago - yeah, that.
[04:45:01] <jcb2016> so install to a flash drive then put the bootloader on the flash drive right?
[04:45:04] <fling> jcb2016: use it for /boot, /root, /home everything.
[04:45:12] <fling> jcb2016: yes, grub goes to the flashdrive too.
[04:45:20] <jcb2016> ok i will do that now

In the past I ran 3 zones. 1) DMZ 2) my zone 3) the great unwashed zone. To do this I ran 3 cables from my firewall/router which was BTW OpenBSD. I am facing a cabling issue. I can't easily run any cables at all. Now this is for internet traffic. The bandwidth from _any_ ISP here in Calgary is pretty limited. That
[07:02:54] <Terrell> is with the exception of SHAW who say they can run 600 Mbps over the old coax. And I do have unlit coax in the walls. q) can I tunnel? do I even have to? I would just set up (192.168.1.x/24) (192.168.2.x/24) (192.168.3.x/24) and run this over wifi configured as (192.168.x.x/16) Pardon my notation.. Its been a decade since I even looked at this.
